Loestrin information
Loestrin contains a combination of estrogen and progestin that is used to prevent pregnancy. Loestrin may also be prescribed in order to regulare a patient's menstrual cycle, treat symptoms of menopause, or for other reasons as determined by a doctor.
Using Loestrin
Loestrin should be taken once a day. It is important to try to take Loestrin at the same time every day, not more than 24 hours apart.

How to store Loestrin
Store at room temp. away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
What to do on a missed Loestrin Dosge
If you miss a dose of Loestrin, take it as soon as you remember. Proceed to take your next dose at the regular time. This means you may take 2 doses on the same day.
If you miss more than one dose of Loestrin, refer to the patient information that came with the medicine, and/or consult your doctor.
Loestrin's Side Effects
Possible side effects of Loestrin use include nausea, vomiting, bleeding between menstrual periods, breast tenderness, or weight change. Side effects may go away by themselves. If they persist or or are bothersome, consult a doctor.
Consult a MD as aoon as possible if you experience one of the following more severe symptoms: persistent or recurrent abnormal vaginal bleeding, a missed menstrual period, dizziness or fainting, swelling of fingers or ankles, headache, or difficulty wearing contact lenses.
Consult a MD immediarely if you experience one of the following: calf/leg pain or swelling, trouble breathing or shortness of breath, chest pain, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, lumps in the breast, sudden severe headache, sharp or crushing chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, yellowing skin or eyes, changes in vision, numbness of an arm or leg, or severe stomach pain.
Drug Interactions with Loestrin
Use of certain antibiotics or anticonvulsants while taking Loestrin may decrease its the effectiveness. To prevent pregnancy, use an additional form of birth control until your next period.
Loestrin Warnings
Smoking during Loestrin use may increase your risk of stroke, heart attack, blood clots, high blood pressure, or other diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

If you wear contact lenses and develop problems with them, contact your doctor.
Loestrin may cause dark skin patches to appear on your face. Exposure to the sun may make them more noticeable. Use sunscreen and/or protective clothing when exposed to sunlight, sunlamps, or tanning booths.
Loestrin will not prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Do not take Loestrin if you are pregnant. If you take Loestrin and you suspect that you could be pregnant, consult your MD immediately.
Loestrin passes into breast milk. If you are or plan to begin breastfeeding, consult a MD to discuss the risks to your baby.
