Since Ultracet is usually used to treat pain as it occurs, missing a dose is usually not a problem. If you were prescribed regular doses and you missed one, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is already near time for the next dose, just skip the one you missed. Taking a double dose might be harmful.

Ultracet's Side Effects

Possible side effects of Ultracet include drowsiness, dizziness, and constipation. Consult a MD as soon as possible if you experience a skin rash, itching, confusion, changes in mood or behavior, hallucinations, dark urine or pale stools, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or unusual fatigue. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience seizures, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of face or mouth.

Drug Interactions with Ultracet

Do not use Ultracet if you are using carbamazepine, cyclobenzaprine, an amphetamine, opiate analgesic, tricyclic antidepressant, serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), or promethazine. Do not use Ultracet if you are using appetite suppresants, sleep aids, or medicines for treating a nervous, mood, or behavior condition. Special dosage adjustments and/or supervision may be needed if you are using Ultracet along with isoniazid, guanidine, or an oral anticoagulant. Do not use other medicines containing acetaminophen, whether prescription or over-the-counter, while taking Ultracet (acetaminophen is found in Tylenol, pain relievers, cold and flu medicines). Taking too much acetaminophen may be harmful. Do not use sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives and antihistamines, unless your MD approves it. Acetaminophen and tramadol may make you drowsy, and in combination with these drugs, may cause heavy sedation.

Ultracet Warnings

Do not use Ultracet if you have had a severe allergic reaction to codeine, hydrocodone, dihydrocodeine, or oxycodone (such as Tylox, Tylenol with Codeine, Vicodin). If you experience an allergic reaction to Ultracet, consult a MD immediately, and do not take any more doses unless your MD directs you to do so. Do not take higher doses of Ultracet or take it for longer than was prescribed for you, as this medicine may be habit forming. Ultracet causes drowsiness: use caution when driving or operating machinery. Do not consume alcohol while using Ultracet, and do not use other drugs containing acetaminophen (check labels closely). If Ultracet makes you dizzy, be sure to sit or stand up slowly. Tell the staff before a surgery, dental procedure, or emergency care, that you are using Ultracet. Possible withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Ultracet are nervousness, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremor, and difficulties sleeping. If you experience one or more of these, consult a doctor. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult a MD before using Ultracet. Do not use Ultracet while you are breast-feeding, since it passes into breast milk and may harm the nursing infant.
